Attempted kinetic resolution of α-methoxy-phenylacetyl chloride using the lithium salt of iso-Pr SuperQuat revealed a diastereoselectivity of 45%, significantly lower than that obtained with the corresponding α-acetoxy carboxylic acid chlorides.
